The Future of Advanced Digital Skills: Highlights from the AI Academies Event

On June 4th, 2025, the Digital AI Academies BDVA Matchmaking Event brought together experts, professionals, and policymakers to discuss the future of digital skills and the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Europe. Coordinated by the Big Data Value Association (BDVA) and supported by the DIGITAL EUROPE programme, the event showcased the pivotal role of AI Skills Academies as flagship initiatives aligned with EU policies. 

Strategic Objectives and Key Topics 

The event focused on: 

  • Policy and regulations to ensure a supportive and comprehensive regulatory environment. 
  • Talent and skills ecosystems to nurture future professionals. 
  • Experimentation and governance to drive responsible AI adoption. 

Value creation and business models to strengthen Europe’s competitive edge. 

Speakers emphasized that the AI Skills Academy will: 

  • Support the AI Innovation Package and the AI Continent Action Plan. 
  • Advance the Union of Skills (Communication of 5 March 2025) and the Digital Decade Policy Programme. 
  • Align with the Roadmap for Women’s Rights, launched on 7 March 2025, ensuring inclusion and gender equality at the core of AI development.
